Privacy Policy

Focus is a Chrome extension that helps people read text using rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP): words are presented one at a time, so readers can focus on the text without scanning across a page.

This website is not part of the extension. It provides product information, this policy, the Terms of Service, and support links. There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no reading features on this website.

Focus uses Google sign-in for account identity. When you sign in, Focus may receive basic Google account profile information, such as your name and email address.

Google handles the sign-in process under its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. You can review and revoke Focus’s access to your Google account at any time from myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Focus’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Focus uses account information to provide the account, subscription, and monthly reading-usage features. In practice this means recognizing your account when you sign in, associating your subscription with you, and tracking your monthly reading usage against your plan’s limits.

Focus does not sell your account information, and this policy does not describe any use of it for advertising.

The extension processes the text you choose to read — text you paste, text you select on a webpage, and supported documents, including PDF contents and OCR text.

The text of what you read is not sent to Focus’s quota backend. Focus’s usage accounting reports word-count increments and the identifiers needed to process them. It does not report reading text, PDF contents, OCR text, selected webpage text, reading titles, or source URLs to the quota backend.

In short: the quota backend learns how much you read this month so your plan’s limits can be applied — not what you read.

Your reading history stays on your device unless a feature separately describes otherwise.

This policy describes no such feature today. If Focus ever introduces a feature that moves reading history off your device, that feature and its data handling will be described here before it ships.

If you subscribe to Focus, payments are processed by Stripe. Payment details — such as card numbers — are handled by Stripe and are not stored by Focus.

Stripe describes its own practices in its privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy.

Google and Stripe provide their services under their own terms and privacy policies. Mentioning or linking to them here does not mean they endorse Focus.

Like any online service, Focus may process basic technical information necessary to operate securely — for example, the information needed to authenticate your sign-in and to protect the service from abuse.

Retention details for account and technical data: to be confirmed against the backend before publication.

This policy does not describe any advertising, analytics, or tracking practices, because Focus does not include them.

Owner: confirm the shipped product contains no third-party analytics, telemetry, or advertising SDKs before publishing.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information — for example, to ask for access, correction, or deletion. To exercise these rights, contact Focus using the details in the Contacting Focus section below.

You can revoke Focus’s access to your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Account deletion. Draft language — confirm the actual flow: you can request deletion of your Focus account and its associated account information by contacting support. Deletion removes your account, subscription link, and usage records.

This section describes rights in general terms and is not a legal compliance guarantee. It must be reviewed against the jurisdictions Focus actually serves before publication.

If Focus changes how it handles information, this policy will be updated and the “Last updated” date above will change. Material changes will be communicated through the extension or this website.
